Rethinking Red Tape in the African Public Service

WHAT IS THE STUDY ABOUT? 

The rationale for this study is to further our understanding of public service motivation (PSM) in developing countries, specifically Zimbabwe. Our team aims to increase our understanding of not only PSM, but also the intersect of PSM and organizational inclusivity, transparency, and red tape. Our study includes three public facing occupations: nurses, school teachers, and a third category for participants in any public service role.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF THE STUDY 

There are three main benefits that will result from this study:

  • An increased understanding of PSM in developing countries.
  • An increased understanding of efficiency and effectiveness in developing countries public service sector.
  • Further development of knowledge and scholarly contribution on the impact of inclusion, transparency and red tape on PSM.
